1. Framework
Under MiFID II, clients are classified into three categories, each corresponding to a different level of protection: retail client, professional client and eligible counterparty.
2. Retail client
Retail clients enjoy the highest level of protection, including full suitability and appropriateness assessment, detailed cost disclosure, best-execution protections and the broadest reporting and information obligations.
3. Professional client
A professional client is deemed to possess the experience, knowledge and expertise to make its own investment decisions. A lower level of protection than for retail clients applies to this category.
4. Eligible counterparty
The eligible counterparty is a category applicable to certain entities in the context of specific services, corresponding to the most limited level of protection.
5. Request for a different categorisation
You may request to be treated in a different category. A request to be treated as a professional client is granted only where the quantitative and qualitative criteria set by law are met and after you have been informed in writing of the protections you would forgo. We reserve the right to refuse such requests.
6. Categories applied by ASTEO
The categorisation assigned to each Client is communicated in writing before the provision of services. [CLIENT CATEGORIES ACTUALLY OFFERED BY ASTEO — TO BE CONFIRMED.]
